      The mac was getting old, begging for a replacement. I heard a lot of complaints about the new MBPs and I personally don't think I could stomach that keyboard. @yoshuawuyts got one of these X1 Carbon and was happy, I followed

      haha, no - I found out later that you need to enable it from Windows before you switch to Linux to enable it. Haven't had the patience to reinstall Windows yet to enable that. Also need windows for BIOS updates, so might do that within the next year or so just for good measure.

      you need windows for firmware updates? possible deal breaker, hopefully that is very temporary.

      Just for BIOS upgrades. Not for microcode / drivers. Can always dual boot; 1tb disk shouldnt make that a problem.
