The mac was getting old, begging for a replacement. I heard a lot of complaints about the new MBPs and I personally don't think I could stomach that keyboard.

haha, no - I found out later that you need to enable it from Windows before you switch to Linux to enable it. Haven't had the patience to reinstall Windows yet to enable that. Also need windows for BIOS updates, so might do that within the next year or so just for good measure.
