I like the idea of somebody putting up a list of node_modules well suited for porting to rust libs

Hehe - that might be tricker than you think. There's lots of things that are common in JS that wouldn't have a place in Rust. The language is very much its own. But perhaps wrapping around common APIs would be a good place to start. Unix, web, services - any would work! :D
