Ohhh, native Rust Ed25519 signatures. Means we can scale back to zero C dependencies. No C dependencies means we can compile to WASM. No C depencies means static binaries that can be called from every language. Exciting!https://github.com/dalek-cryptography/ed25519-dalek …

Why can’t rust compile to wasm with c deps? Can’t c compile to wasm?

yeah in theory it's possible, but it's not well supported yet. It used to work, now it kinda works. It might stop working at any time. Maybe at some point this'll be sorted, but right now they're prioritizing other stuff :D

fun fact: code to handle exceptions went from 44kb to 300 bytes last week - makes me super excited for WASM as a Rust target! Compiler team cares a lot!

Ah makes sense! Yeah, my main use of C is “write once compile to anywhere” but it is incredibly terrible to work in.

There is an inflection point for maintaining a single C project and maintaining N functionally identical codebases in different languages, usually only makes sense for low level util libraries.

Would love to see rust fill this. Would make it practical to do more portable core development.

Is linking into Android and iOS there yet? (Sorry not trying to use you as my google, haven’t found anything useful for mobile dev for rust when I’ve gone looking

At the very least it should be about as good as any other C lib today. Crossing fingers it'll eventually be excellent though :D
