Because that's the thing right: if something can be done, but it's not convenient, then the problem isn't solved. In the case of tapenet, it takes a familiar interface, with a common language, and makes this really hard thing quite simple to do.
I've saw tapenet and mininet and, without knowing much, I wonder, could someone design and test a mesh network with that?
That's the idea! - you can declare switches & nodes, and configure all traffic between them. Really neat!
