I'm disappointed in JavaScript people today. 1. Why do we need to talk about semicolons again? This feels like wasted time. 2. Is it too much to ask for a bit of empathy that not everyone uses the language in The One True Way. EMPATHY is all we can ever ask for. So yeah, nah.

The PR in question is about increased hazards due to grammar constraints. TC39 continues to try its best to prevent adding those and to allow usage without semicolons, but the list of hazards has increased over time and is expected to increase.

I think all of TC39 will try its best to not be exclusionary but the increase in hazards on a 20 year old heuristic makes a recommendation seem sane. If there is anything that can be done to alleviate concerns about ASI I'm happy to discuss.

Yeah, it's the statement of intent that matters. Trust in the process & knowing that people care. Theres some good in the thread, but also Twitter takes that don't help.
