every few years, use linux for a little bit to check that it's still terrible

i have no qualms with a fully-configured, fully-installed linux system, i have qualms with the path to getting there. installing and configuring software is still kafkaesque, apt-get is just as bad as it was years ago
Hehe, I switched to Pacman and oh man it's amazing! It's just that Arch takes so much extra work to get started right haha.

not to hype homebrew too much, but _it works_ and thankfully it has become a de-facto standard. oss package management on macOS is gloriously not very fragmented, everyone contributes to the same project

Oh yeah, thats pretty neat! It does have some weird rules & limitations, but the good definitely outshines the bad for sure. Idk, I think by the very nature of Linux that might not be happening anytime soon for the OS. Ghmmm.
