I got deep on Elementary for a bit. Seemed like a neat project to contribute to as well.https://elementary.io/

I keep wanting to give it a try but I still have invented time to do so. Maybe a project over the next few weeks barring I'm not doing anything with hypercore

I spent the last year on elementaryOS. I just ditched it for Lubuntu — way faster, much lighter weight, faster startup/shutdown, just as easy to make look/feel good, most importantly it’s not run by people who are too good for electron apps ;)pic.twitter.com/anVLoZGyCA

Oh man, yeah — I keep thinking about this, but it truly seems that Electron is the only sane way to do cross platform app development right now. I wish more people would agree that that's a problem worth solving :(

We need more control of the features we want built into electron. Modular builds including the things you need. Maybe not shipping ffmpegsumo etc when you don't need media playback etc. It's all or nothing right now

If it's about disk space, I'm not too concerned. Most apps are about 700mb, which means you can have 20 of em and not worry about disk. Memory on the other hand; a lot trickier.
