Custom wire protocols; custom databases. If the Web is set to become the universal portable VM, then we need to finish what WASM started.

Webrtc data channels already allow for custom wire protocols. QUIC+ICE light make it faster to set up a new connection. None of this touches databases.

Right now data channels have essentially a 6-RTT setup process (signaling, ICE, 2 DTLS, 2 SCTP), incredible as it sounds. QUIC DCs would drive that down to 2, just signaling + ICE + some form of 0-RTT QUIC.
-
Then perhaps you could piggyback QUIC on ICE to get to 1 RTT, especially in c2s cases where you only need a single ICE check.

QUIC DCs will address latency, memory will be helped by having a standalone QuicTransport class (separate from PeerConnection)
