Use termite as your terminal. Supports scrollback. Has a selection mode (like vim). Ctrl-shift-c is cooy, ctrl-shift-v is paste. Literally just finished setting up sway on my old macbook

Termite also works super well with sway. I need to figure out how to bind the function keys to run scripts
