      Here's the thing. You said a "reference counting is garbage collection." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies garbage collectors, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls refcounting garbage collection.

      "gc" is split up into "tracing gc" and "refcounting", so "gc" is the family name. Most working programmers use "tracing GC" to mean "GC"
