Hah, there's a Rust compiler warning it got stuck on for a while. Got me worried, but got past it! Yay, seems I have a fast terminal now!

Booop, so ly is a pretty neat program. Small, no-frills login manager written in C. The cool thing about Linux is that everything can be replaced. I bet writing a login manager in Rust would be a fun side project :Dhttps://github.com/cylgom/ly

Oh by the way, not sure if I mentioned it here — but this is what I'm striving for as my initial terminal lookhttps://gfycat.com/WellgroomedHeavenlyIggypops …

Damn. That terminal alone may get me to leave macos. Are you rolling Gnome on Arch? (peeking back on your timeline ;p)

Haha, no no — I'm going with Sway on Wayland (replacement for i3 on Xorg). Hoping to get the Alacritty terminal in the mix too, as it's really snappy — and work from there. Probably going for a base16 eighties color scheme I think :D

These days the kernel does a bunch of stuff that used to be part of xorg; Wayland's architecture is able to make use of this, where xorg is not quite able to. Should provide improved perf, simpler API, and hopefully a richer ecosystem because of the lowered barrier.
