Actually thinking about this a lil more: why isn't nvm (or similar) part of the Node foundation? We should have a blessed way to perform installs & upgrades. It should be the first thing people see on http://nodejs.org https://twitter.com/yoshuawuyts/status/932979687034441729 …

This was discussed a while back and we couldn't get consensus on a path forward. I still think it should happen

What were the points we couldn’t reach consensus on? Will they be an issue again?
Hugest of huge +1s for this.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
The "one blessed way" should take into account Windows (and other platforms that do not have bash). I still believe that the OBW should be download & unzip
but I'm +1 on helping out with nvm (since @ljharb became de facto tier 1 support)1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

but neither MSYS bash (Git Bash) nor WSL (which is not Windows anyway) are installed by default, so we still have a bootstrapping problem

Having talked to all of you (and Microsoft) about this it seems to me the main issues aren’t technical, but political.

Haha, well at least it seems most people here are agreeing it's a problem that needs solving. That's a pretty great place to start from!
