The thing I was most excited about in past discussions was standardizing where node is installed, and making it outside of /use/local That way you could move from double click installer to version manager... Or between implementations
I've got less skin in the NVM game than @ljharb, but I liked https://github.com/jasongin/nvs for it's support for Windows and general robust design.
