If you want to see how the 'types in js' story ends you can ffwd by looking at the history of what happened to ActionScript.
Opt-in typing for me means using runtime assertions. Or automated checks with fuzzers or V8 runtime info. Not convinced either of lang forks

Me too! this is seriously 80% of the benefit of types. (Terse input validation.)

Also! runtime is where I want my type checking and crash-y errors. Compile time just means code gets littered with Object and Any? types…
