/r/node is not a good place. Racism, sexism - people that hang out there are not what the Node community should be.

I'd say GitHub is #1, Twitter #2 for the wider Node community. In-groups vary, but IRC is def up there

Depends on def of community. Seems like Twitter in general (regardless of topic) skews elite, reflecting tech hub world.
