APIs used for this are mostly requestIdleCallback() and requestAnimationFrame() with a custom stack data structure.
My take on it: even though it sounds great on paper, in practice it ends up being a lot of code to ship, and consume too much CPU

if ux is defined by fps, and fps is optimized, why would cpu usage matter?

I usually run more than just a single website at a time. And like, I usually run them on devices with a battery; they don't like it either
