I'm adding jest's snapshot tests to my project to basically do this. Generate a snapshot, it fails with a diff if anything changes.
Haha yeah I made https://github.com/yoshuawuyts/assert-snapshot/ … to do the same, but without needing to buy into a whole framework haha. Digging the approach a lot!
