ya that's the final part: trust - but imo prebuilt binaries > executing untrusted scripts to build things. At least at the moment
most packages just have a hint in a readme than something extra is required to be installed
interesting - e.g. the rabin package has a pure JS version intended for browser, native for Node. Native is an optimization
the problem I'm interested in is the communication that system level deps are required, rather than compiling bindings to them
at least you can read the scripts
