      when you amend a commit, what actually happens is that it creates a new commit with a different ref. That new commit is by you

      so it's completely by the book and as expected. Even without signing you will still be listed as committer in git and on GitHub

      yes, but obviously you can't retain the authors signature after amending the commit. The sig indicates committer

          I'm pretty sure it used to show both author and commiter. At least when merged. Sunds like a UI bug /cc @github
