The instrumentation of the DOM is analogous to React's "shouldComponentUpdate" - we achieve this by proxying nodes thru `node.isSameNode()`
e.g.
if (memoizedEl) {
const dummyEl = html`<div></div>`;
dummyEl.isSameNode = (el) => el.isSameNode(memoizedEl);
return dummyEl
} //
