What do people think of sometimes annotating <div> elements with "data-name" attributes to mention what they for?

it can weigh down markup, especially if you are adding ARIA labels as well.
that's legit - do you use ARIA? I've seen it but it felt umm... quite heavy so never quite dove into it

I have used ARIA because it is the recommended best practice, but it is so verbose and requires too much markup imho

yeah that was my feels - but "used" implies you no longer / not always do; is that right?
