      I mean both options are valid, but having both is the worst possible outcome - I've never felt the need for block scoping so idk

      beginners get tripped by hoisting which is why JS community at large considers var retired. Legacy for backwards compatibility.

      I've seen more beginners surprised that var is not blockscoped. I rather use just let and const and let var die. IMHO
