      what killed the build? npm's the only tool in that log that had to hit the network.

      yeah, I think npm starts racking up mem to create the dep graph, hits the cgroup limit and insta crashes the container

      Browserify has >40 direct deps IIRC. Can you COPY node_modules in addition to package.json? Often like to do that anyway.

      Ain't nothin' wrong with committing node_modules. Otherwise: More RAM. You're asking npm to do a lot with leftovers of 512MB.

      hehe, leftovers of 200MiB. Yeah so what I'm doing now is just writing my own client: curl uri, parse semver, walk and unzip
