I have lots of love for the npm team, but the CLI tool is and has been performing sub-par for a good while now :(pic.twitter.com/qu6xTqcw8c
It makes me sad that `$ npm install` would go out of RAM and crash on a machine that has 0.6GB RAM

Agreed. `pnpm` and `ied` are great - not sure how they perform memory-wise, but speed is so much better.

hehe, yeah the problem here truly is memory - speed doesn't matter if my build reliably dies
