Turns out writing recursive asynchronous data handlers is the bane of my existence; been doing it for three years now and it's still hard

any time “asynchronous” enters the world, everything gets massively harder

I've basically got a "what's the baby of x and y" joke rn with recursion and async, except it's not funny and I'm handling errors

Do it in Twisted. :)
