whats wrong w init loads? offline mod caches/loads state in localStor, before any network rehydrates. instnt load + min updates
(over-fetches). also, simple vs easy except a lot of visitors will be first visitors and afaik CDNs / caches don't quite play ball with WS - also: firewalls

been ok for us in prod so far, but agree needs more battle-testing. firewalls do often force long-polling.
