When I was in high school, I got suspended once for bringing a pocket knife with me on a school field trip to the FBI office in New Haven.

I'd left the knife in my backpack camping the weekend prior. It had one sharpened blade, and another dull squared-off blade.

The FBI pass all bags through a metal detector. They held onto the knife until after the field trip, when they tried to give it back to me.

The school chaperone took it. The vice-principal decided that the dull squared-off blade looked "scary" and "dangerous". Called it a "razor"

not the blade that was actually sharpened, mind you. I still have no idea what made that other non-sharp non-pointy blade "scary".

But the concern was kids scaring each other, I guess? So I got suspended from school for 3 days.
