There doesn't seem to be a way to make a `throw` escape a Promise; rethrowing from inside `.catch()` just gets swallowed again.

@yoshuawuyts Yeah, this is pretty counterintuitive behaviour. You'd expect an uncatched Promise to error to the console.
@jonkoops it's more that you can't throw from inside a promise. This breaks regular error handling.
