Setting up a new laptop today and using `winget` (new official(!) pkg manager) to do it. It feels as smooth, if not smoother than Homebrew. *way* better than the default pacman/yay experience. If winget will come pre-installed on machines in the future: ooophhhh. This is good.

Ah, can't install Rustup through winget yet. Someone should write a PR to include
@rustlang in the package overview: https://github.com/microsoft/winget-pkgs … Would love to be able to do: $ winget install rustup And things just work.4 replies 0 retweets 10 likesShow this thread -

BTW, I have an item on my list, which is documenting how to properly build rustc on Windows in Powershell without mingw.

Documented the steps I took today on a fresh install. No need for mingw. Start to finish took about 30 mins total.https://gist.github.com/yoshuawuyts/9d0797afddd378e7cc06788c0a278c58 …

What's missing for me is how I get the cmake path to persist in powershell.

oh yeah, add it to the
$PATH env var. Uhh, I can screenshot what I did. One sec.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
I'll include these in the gist, but this is how to do it: search is "windows button + [start typing] path"pic.twitter.com/wydAOG3YXP
