      Gah, we're *this* close to this being real. HTTP/1.1 client in 3 lines. What we're missing is: - new version of url crate published to http://Crates.io  - http-types 2.0 published (later today?) - Request::{get,post,put,etc} (we can patch this easily)pic.twitter.com/8UEgc3NdDP

      use http_types::Request;
use async_std::net::TcpStream;

let stream = TcpStream::connect("127.0.0.1:8080").await?;
let req = Request::get(format!("http://{}/foo", stream.peer_addr()?));
let res = async_h1::connect(stream, req).await?;
println!("{:?}", res);

      I often hear folks describe Rust as tricky learn, etc. And it definitely can be. But when factored right, most of this complexity can be encapsulated and we can produce APIs that feel intuitive for many people coming from other langs. I think that's important.

          You are spot on! I think Rust has an unique ability to do APIs that are both ergonomic and super performant. I also think it hasn't reached its potential yet but that's where we have to do the groundwork and let it shine!

          I am really enjoying your updates/learnings on Rust, particularly since you're also coming from a node perspective.

          +1000. Rust is such an expressive language that it is VERY possible to create a super friendly API if you make it a priority.

          Tide/surf are great examples; the hello world for those libraries are completely readable without Rust experience. (Uh, except perhaps a boxed error here or there. Errors we have not nailed yet.)
