I think I managed to break down http-client and http-service into more manageable traits: https://gist.github.com/yoshuawuyts/66bd55364ccc24c63ec36c6c534896e1 … Def def def of the opinion that even though Client / Server have the same interface, it's important to differentiate between "request sender" vs "request receiver".
I think that's my main dislike of Finagle/Tower: it takes an "everything can be the same" approach to design, which in the abstract is really elegant. But in practice it can be tricky to figure out how things fit together which makes it quite hard to use.
