One of the things I'm happiest about picking up over the last year is regularly writing about the work I do. Most of my work is focused on API design; which if done well is usually easy to replicate. Writing feels like the only clear way to keep credit.

In the case of copycats the worst they can then do is omit references (even if impls are copied). But it becomes *much* harder to claim they invented it because there's an article with the design rationale readily available to refute it.

Sometimes I think back at Sheetify, and how things could've been different had I written about it. It preceded much of the current "CSS-in-JS" wave, and from talking to authors of packages that helped popularize it, they were definitely influenced by the work we did.
