Base is 128GB, doubling that when purchasing costs £200. I don't see why npm doesn't have a single package cache and use symlinks or something, surely the packages don't change per project?

That's the key difference with that xcode comparison, there's only 1 xcode installation. I have more than 13 GB of node_modules on this machine because each package has a fresh copy of more or less the same stuff
