Windows 10 I presume? Win+Shift+S activates snip mode, allows you to draw a box around a portion to quickly screenshot

If you're running W10 version 1809 or higher, you'll find an option under Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard to default PrintScreen to a snip rather than a full screen screenshot - then it's only a single key to remember

last used windows a decade ago but don't PC keyboards have "print screen" for this?

Yes. But it sticks it on the paste board so you have to ctrl-v where you want it.
I just put the snip tool on the bar and call it a day - 2 more replies

I use ShareX as my preferred windows snipping tool, it is very handy
