I see systems performance as being in a similar place as security was in around 1997. We have some tools, but they are scattered, and knowledge is so badly distributed that there are many charlatans tricking people to use their crap "because performance"

I agree, this is definitely a place where browser tooling is far ahead. I think a big part of that is the consistent platform, which I believe can be built on top of the myriad system specific tools
