What's a good word to replace the use of "scripting" in the sentence: "Ruby is an excellent scripting language". I feel "scripting" has some negative connotations — unserious, toy-like, throwaway. I'm looking for something equivalent, but without those connotations.
Hmm, I feel like my objective may not have been clear. Sorry about that. I'm trying to put into words the positive qualities often associated with "scripting languages" without actually using that term.

I think we should just drop the term “scripting language” and replace it with “programming language” everywhere. All programming languages can be used to create programs and scripts. Ruby is faster than some in getting simple things done because of its expressive and rich core...

... and standard lib, in addition to an REPL. The power of REPL can often be underrated; for me it was not until I had to go back to Java before I realized how much I had been taking it for granted.
