What's a good word to replace the use of "scripting" in the sentence: "Ruby is an excellent scripting language". I feel "scripting" has some negative connotations — unserious, toy-like, throwaway. I'm looking for something equivalent, but without those connotations.
Heh, so I'm trying to enumerate the quality itself to apply to other languages too. What is the quality of *scripting" and is there a different word we could use in it's stead?

I fell like in most cases it's just the pick-up-and-play nature of a language that gives it the "scripting" moniker. I almost want to suggest "interpreted", but JIT languages aren't always - or don't have to be - interpreted, right?
