I guess I'm officially still part of Node's streams WG. I believe it's been about 3 years now? Not been very active in a while. Been doing Node streams for about 5 years in total I think.

I didn't really *get* Node streams at first. The official Node docs weren't (and still aren't) very good. Probably the thing that made it really click for me was

Maybe not so much the finer details (that took longer), but the idea of composable programs that keep inner state, and ingest / output data stuck. It does a wonderful job at conveying the *idea* of streams, and in turn Node's streaming model.

I think Rust could benefit a lot from a similar approach. The underlying primitives in both sync and async rust are *excellent*. But it feels like we should do a better job articulating the streams model, and sanding off some rough edges.

I think there's a lot of potential here, and think if we continue to put in work we can make Rust's streams really accessible to a lot of folks! --- In conclusion: very excited about Rust streams!!!

Mentioning Rust streams,
@wycats and I have been using them for the last month or so. Would be happy to brainstorm, if you're interested.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Ohh yeah, I can see that being a useful conversation to have. Would be delighted!
