Just realized something fun: fd-lock is in practice a cross-platform, cross-process mutex. It allows resource sharing between separate processes exactly the way a regular Mutex would. Lol oops, that was not the plan.
Not sure it's cross-platform. Some systems may release locks inconsistently depending on various exit situations of the process that claimed the lock. And I think some NFS implementations will break this expectation.
Should be good for Linux though :]
