I install a new version of yarn with npm. It's not updated at all and yarn doesn't seem to have a self updating feature?!

don't even get me started with managing envs with different node versions

I am convinced people who do front end dev on the regular know all the quirks of the tooling and can deal with it cause they have not but for someone who does not their interactions (like nvm and tools installed in each env) are non-obvious and ux is incredibly bad

and the startup times to display help messages are egregious and the tooling doesn't even feel like it follows unix conventions. I'll type yarn and it starts to install stuff? why isn't it printing the help message by default?

Tech in general too seems to love having dull knives for software, there's such a rush to ship on self imposed deadlines and now the quality just suffers.

Whenever I feel this way I try and funnel it towards excitements/ideas for structurally better solutions. In this case: wasm-bindgen/gloo are suuuuuper promising for this space!

I don't think it so much the underlying tools? (though I'm so freaking excited for this) but like not understanding the OS? Like not using tmp lock files to avoid cache invalidation etc. My real issue is UX so anything to make it better is good in my opinion.
