GitHub's threading model might work well when operating in small, goal-oriented teams that have professional guidelines, managers, and HR to back it up. GitHub's threading model works terribly for large groups of strangers where operating in bad faith isn't a conduct violation.

I think for me the thing is that these kinds of threads feel like an emotional man-hole. You can climb in, you can climb out, but the result's never pretty. I think we can, and should do better.
