This is a fantastic change! It proposes to make stdlib more like any other crate. Which will open up the path to introduce feature flags and custom compilation. We just need to be carreful to always propose a precompiled version of the `std/core`. In other way it will not help into keeping compilation times lower.

Ya for sure! From my interactions with Rust folks working on libs / cargo, compile speeds matter a lot to them and I have faith they won't lose sight of them c:
