Yay https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/57992 … landed which means Futures on today's nightly now only have a single Waker type! So no more distinction between Waker / LocalWaker!

The patch for futures-preview is here https://github.com/rust-lang-nursery/futures-rs/pull/1445 … which should allow the full ecosystem to adopt the final API! :D

And the tracking issue for Romio to support this is here: https://github.com/withoutboats/romio/issues/65 … Very excited for the progress the futures ecosystem is making!

This is awesome! Any idea what the timeline looks like for releasing on stable? Or even what the next steps are?

The biggest blocker is to get the stabilization RFC merged. It's currently in FCP, and has disposition merge so that's pretty good! And beyond that there's a handful of smaller issues that need to be resolved. E.g. stuff like `iovec` in stdlib, and Pin + Async{Read,Write}

It's hard to tell how long any given stage will take, so I don't dare give any estimates. But there's steady progress, and the list of things left to figure out seems to be steadily shrinking!

If I wanted to follow along with the progress, where do I go? Sorry for the line of questioning. It’s kinda difficult to follow along with so much happening

Haha, that's an excellent question - and I don't really have an answer. Most of what I currently know is because I attended the all-hands two weeks ago. I think keeping track of RFCs and https://github.com/rust-lang-nursery/futures-rs/issues … might be the best way to keep up to date right now!

Other than that it's probably also good to have projects that depend on nightly features, so you'll notice when things change. I've found watching Romio to be a good way to do that!https://github.com/withoutboats/romio …
