Was reading about the C++ Lifetime thing and I think that in hindsight, "uniq" would probably have been a clearer keyword for ownership than "mut". "uniq" bares a meaning of ownership, while "mut" ("mutable") is a feature of having ownership.

basically, the initial reaction to the first post by lots of people (including me) was overwhelmingly negative, hence the "pocalypse" I and others have come around, but programmers have a gut-level feel for mutability. not uniqueness yet. maybe Rust++, someday...
