Was reading about the C++ Lifetime thing and I think that in hindsight, "uniq" would probably have been a clearer keyword for ownership than "mut". "uniq" bares a meaning of ownership, while "mut" ("mutable") is a feature of having ownership.

In an explanation it might even more clear. There's a directed relationship between "uniqueness" and "mutability": "You're holding a unique reference here, so you're allowed to mutate it". vs "You're holding a mutable reference here, which means it can't be shared".
