Is this an interesting problem? -- Probably not inherently, it's nothing that hasn't been tried before. But I think the interesting part is in trying to move the status quo ahead. Classic apps are going to be built for a whole while longer, and they can def be improved!

A *super* interesting thing that could be done is run hosted functions. Imagine being able to define an endpoint with some middleware fronting it, and backed by a WASM binary. The logic inside of it would just do some operations on the data, and it good!

But yeah, the *key* emphasis here is that everything should be built in a modular fashion. That way everything can be reused if say, you wanted to build a different configuration of the same functionality.

Only the realtime database, or also analytic, hosting, functions... etc? https://github.com/poga/pgrest-schemaless … is a schema-less database I created in 2015. It's compatible with firebase's realtime database API.

or a self hosted app engine, datastore, memcache, task queues etc. In Fact it will be a better product that is apart from being self hosted and not google
