I think my main disappointment lies in that this talk was used to announce a new project that covers the same space. Rather than talking the new project up, it spends time talking Node down. I don't like that part; especially coming from someone influential.

Maybe it's just me, and I'm being a bit sensitive since I've been invested deeply in Node & the people that make it. But I feel there's ways to comment on flaws without talking anything down. And I feel that didn't happen here, which left me feeling uneasy.

I saw that talk too, and I loved it actually. It was not an attack, it was a retrospective on decisions that were made (many by himself). I love Node, but don't want to pretend its flaws aren't there :) IMHO, speaker has a skill for making one rethink the status-quo.
