I've only thought of my calendar as a tool for planning, but am finding myself increasingly interested in using it as a tool for reflection and introspection after reading this post. Seems like something calendar software could take more seriously

"If we can make going to a therapist as normalised as seeing a doctor for flu, perhaps someone like Victoria would just casually walk into the hall one day and tell her mom, “hey I’m not feeling well, can I see a therapist today?”" https://twitter.com/wynlim/status/1222738316648337409 …pic.twitter.com/SeFZHcLfg7

Oh my god. So there's a manga Steve Jobs biography, featuring a manga Alan Kay. "Not bad... but as far as seeing the future goes, 'round these parts, you're merely second place." (source: https://twitter.com/K_akiya/status/1223868404202737665 …)pic.twitter.com/NBqfsahPJO

"Kakoune supports multiple clients on the same editing session, so that multiple windows can be used, letting the system window manager handle its responsibilities such as tiling or tabbing." https://github.com/mawww/kakoune/blob/master/doc/design.asciidoc …pic.twitter.com/eTQ616l7I4

The text editor Kakoune does this well. It has no tiling or tabbing, leaving that up to you. Plugins also adhere to this, for example here's the fzf.kak plugin running in iTerm and tmux. The pane it opens for you to select a file is provided by the terminal emulator.pic.twitter.com/pSqgJC0XEt

One advantage a VR chorded keyboard might have over a real one is that we could annotate the fingers with the options as the user chords, aiding in learnability.pic.twitter.com/hbFnKgIUEv

Last I checked text input in VR still isn’t that great. But Valve’s knuckle VR controllers can track your fingers. I wonder if this capability could be used to create a decent virtual chorded keyboard like the one in this article.

A cool approach to making route maps more legible by relaxing perfect geometric accuracy. Space is distorted to make short roads and turns more prominent. Everything outside the route is removed. Much like a route map you would draw for someone else! https://somethingaboutmaps.wordpress.com/2011/03/08/remembering-linedrive/ …pic.twitter.com/jmb6cwsFEV

I know right? This is what got me really excited about VR! I was actually working on an app in this space for a while:https://youtu.be/i-cIspA6BAI

Thinking about scrolling vs. paging, continuous vs. discrete UI. Reasoning about the in-between of two things, like a vacation spanning two months on a calendar, is easy with scrolling(iCalendar). With a slideshow interface(G cal), it's hard - a continuum needlessly broken up.pic.twitter.com/Rn2BmAwKmA

Was playing around with liquidtext recently and was reminded of this. In that, you have a free-form drawer space you can extract excerpts into. Feels much more fluid and tactile than copying into an invisible register somewhere.pic.twitter.com/6rp8dksUDw

Squint hard enough and you can see a similar process having played out in AI: We tried discrete approaches that imposed our perception of intelligence. Stuff like expert systems, very crisp and contoured. But now the blurry and smoky neural nets seem to be faring better.pic.twitter.com/I7xxQCNs45

In painting, Da Vinci fought against the then dominant use of the contour line. He argued that reality had no lines, advocating for blurred contours and hazy forms to better capture it, "without lines or borders, in the manner of smoke or beyond the focus plane".pic.twitter.com/zZzxg91K2O

The BLENK thread. (For me personally I would add a V for Bret Victor, making it the BLENKV thread)pic.twitter.com/Kekdzip8TL
