Is it weird to get really shaken up when someone tells you they love you? And I mean like saying "I love you like a brother" or "like family" or something like that. Just people caring for you as a person rather than someone to laugh at or with. Is it bad if I find it jarring?
nah, i get it too usually happens when you hear it after someone who said it hurts you, in my experience

For me in those situations it just feels numb at first to hear that kind of thing. Eventually I feel better but that first one always kinda feels like I don't even hear it. In this case though I mean that it feels weird for anyone to actually tell me outright that they care.
